2010 Greggys: Couple of the Year - Neil Patrick Harris & David Burkta

By Greg Hernandez HollywoodNews.com: Whether they know it or not, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are one of the most high-profile examples of why same-sex marriage should be legal in every state in America. Neil said of David in an interview earlier this year: “I’m his forever protector, and I’m happiest when he’s happy.” Together for six years, they so clearly adore each other which is evident in just about every photo you see of these two actors – especially in photos from David’s surprise 35th birthday party in New York City earlier this year. So many Greg In Hollywood readers responded to photos from that night that I did a separate post on their reactions alone. This is a couple that really touches a cord. GIH reader Sharon summed it up for many when she commented: “I have so much respect for them. I like the way they represented themselves ,the way the behave, they stand tall, comfortably without being someone hiding in the shadows.:) And after over six years together they still look head over heels for each other – that is refreshing to see – That`s sexy….Wish you many good years together.” For Neil, it was another banner year professionally as he continued his run on CBS’s ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ guest starred on ‘Glee’ and won an Emmy for his performance (he won a second Emmy this year for hosting the 2009 Tony Awards), filmed another ‘Harold and Kumar’ movie and directed a production of ‘Rent’ last summer at The Hollywood Bowl. David, whose stage credits include Broadway productions of ‘Gypsy’ and ‘The Play About the Baby,’ has done guest spots on such shows as ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Crossing Jordan’ and appeared several times on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ in the role of Scooter. But David has turned his attentions to being a chef and put acting on the back burner. Still, he did appear in the short film ‘GaySharkTank.com’ which premiered at Outfest last summer.
